Slide Background
Kielder Campsite
Located in the heart of Kielder, Northumberland

Welcome to Kielder Campsite 2024

A rustic, three star, independent site. Situated in a remote and quiet part of Northumberland. Dark sky friendly with no mobile signal and lots of space to relax. Our site is available to like minded walkers, campers, motorbikes, camper vans, motorhomes and touring caravans.

  • About us

We are a 3 star accredited independently run site. Nestled in the heart of Kielder Forest we are the remotest site in England. We offer pitches for camping, motor home and touring caravans, four pods and two static caravans.
  • Accommodation

We have 25 hardstandings, most can accommodate an awning next to it on a grassed area. A reservoir was put here for a reason, there may be periods of high precipitation when the ground is too soft to accommodate an awning. For this reason we do not allow any vehicles, towing or otherwise to drive or park on the grass.
  • Things to Do

Before contacting us, check out our FAQs to find answers to most of your questions about general enquiries, food on site, dogs on site, fishing, the mobile signal and tent pitches.

For up to date information regarding the campsite, check this page before you leave home.

Kielder Marathon weekend: There will be buses running on Sunday morning for transportation to Kielder Waterside from the Forestry depot in Kielder Village. See the official info below.

The buses aim to be there from around 7:30 AM and start moving once full around 8 AM. This bus service will stop at around 9:30 AM so we just need to make sure everyone is aware to get there and leave plenty of time to get to their race start.
It will take approximately 12-15 mins to walk to the depot from the campsite. Maps will be on site for you to photograph or refer to. Return bus info will be available at Kielder Waterside during and after the event. There is no transport planned for Saturday.
If you are entered or supporting the marathon there is no need to pack your tent or move your vehicle off it's hardstand. We are marathon friendly; be sure to leave your motorhome, caravan, camper or tent here and use the bus service. On your return feel free to have a shower or use the ablutions prior to departing. Any questions, drop us an e-mail or ask at reception. We don't know all of the answers, but we'll do our best to find out.

The campsite has privately booked events over the following weekends:. Kielder Star Party 25th - 27th Oct. [You can book for this sparkling event via the link] Link to Star Party booking and event info.

Please research the area prior to arrival....read reviews. Do not let your expectations blur reality. Whilst we are coming to the end of the midge season, they do still appear if conditions are favourable. [For the midge, not us!]. The Kielder area is renowned for being midgy. Sometimes the midges are prolific, other times they are not. We do not have a crystal ball and any reviewer complaining about midges has not prepared or reviewed.

foxWe have a fox and badger who have found that guests unwittingly leave items out for them to snaffle. Please put all food, shoes, small bags in fact anythng you don't want to lose....tuck it away inside out of the way. [Not in an open porch or under the fly sheet....they are master burglars!]  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
